The platforms are now buried under the embankment of the M74 extension into Glasgow. The Rutherglen and Coatbridge platforms were further to the right. The part of the building closest to the camera was a more recent addition, but beyond is the exterior of the original railway offices which bordered the all-over covered station. Regrettably this survivor was demolished to make way for flats. This was a three platform passenger terminus from 1879 to 1895 on the Caledonian's 1877 London Road branch from Rutherglen. The station was to the right and goods and mineral depot to the left. The site survived as a goods yard until closure in 1993 by which time it only catered to scrap - probably seeing its last traffic five years earlier. The site was redeveloped for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games of 2014.
