This iron works opened by David Colville and Sons beside the Clydesdale Junction Railway at Crosshill, Motherwell, on lands fued from the Hamiltons of Dalzell.
The works was capable of converting pig iron into iron bar having puddling furnaces and mills.
The site is now the southern portion of the Dalzell Steel Works alongside the railway in Motherwell. To the immediate south is the reversing spur used to access the works.
