Description

This is a two platform station in the north of Maryhill. The current station is a reopening of 1993 on the site of the earlier station. Maryhill Park Junction opened to the west in 2005 along with a single track line to a bay platform at Anniesland.

Original station

The single storey station building, on the eastbound platform, was similar to those which survive at Cardross and Kilpatrick. A later NBR style building was on the westbound platform. There was a large water tank at the east end of the eastbound platform.

Maryhill Park Junction [1st] was to the west. Here the Helensburgh line was met by the Stobcross Railway. The two lines crossed over the River Kelvin by means of two parallel and adjoining double track viaducts.

A small goods yard was on the south side of the station, approached from the Stobcross Railway to the west. The Maryhill Tram Depot adjoined this, to the south.

Later a larger Maryhill Goods was opened further east. and the goods shed at the station demolished

In addition to the two main lines meeting at the junction west of the station there was also a line north west to Dalsholm Paper Mills where, reached by reversal, another line dropped down to pass under the viaducts to a pair of sidings on the east bank of the river.
