Politicians calling for the extension of a north-east rail line have had their hopes of success raised after being offered encouragement by the Scottish Government's transport chief.
(Permalink) Banff Ellon Fraserburgh Peterhead Fraserburgh: D6141 stands ready to leave Fraserburgh with the 3.15pm train for Aberdeen on 2 September 1963. Peterhead: D5323 prepares to take the Formartine and Buchan Railtour out of Peterhead on 24 May 1969. Passenger services were withdrawn in 1965, although freight operations at the busy fishing port continued for a further 5 years. Nothing of the railway remains here today, with the site now occupied by Peterhead Academy see image [[17391]].
