ScotRail has released plans to change the hours at its staffed ticket offices which could result in shorter opening times throughout the week. In the north and north-east, changes are proposed at stations including Huntly, Aviemore, Dingwall, Forres, Elgin, Keith, Kingussie and Nairn.

Many stations will have a change in the pattern of opening hours. The previous pattern was of Monday to Friday hours, which will now be replaced with Monday to Thursday hours with changes to the service on a Friday.

Rail services on the Kyle Line have resumed after a landslip was cleared overnight, but flooding has washed away track on the Inverness-Aberdeen line.

Train commuters are experiencing delays and cancellations after safety inspections force closure of the Dingwall line.

ScotRail has terminated a number of services on the Inverness to Dingwall route as engineers work to carry out safety inspections of the track.

A statement said: 'Train services between Kyle Of Lochalsh and Inverness may be terminated at and started back from Dingwall. All stations between Inverness and Dingwall will not be served.

'For safety reasons we are unable to run trains between Dingwall and Muir of Ord. Our staff have been mobilised and will be onsite at approximately 2:30pm. We will update you once we have more information.'

The train line between Inverness and Dingwall has been closed following a landslip in the area. The incident happened on Tuesday evening, affecting Inverness to Wick and Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh services. ScotRail expect the line to be closed on Wednesday with a full inspection to be carried out in daylight with the track team assembling kit and materials required to start repairs. Meanwhile, ScotRails integrated control team are working on a temporary timetable for Dingwall to Wick/Kyle of Lochalsh.

An investigation is launched after an Inverness to Kyle train hits a car on a level crossing at Dingwall. The incident happened at the crossing on the A862 Newton Road, Dingwall, at about 1130 GMT on Tuesday.
