Scottish North Eastern Railway

Introduction

This company was created in 1856 by an amalgamation of the Aberdeen Railway and Scottish Midland Junction Railway. Both companies had hoped to be bought by the Caledonian Railway and with it finding itself unable to do so the companies merged.
