This was a double track junction between the curve from Cumnock Junction on the Glasgow and South Western Railway's main line and the line from Ayr via Cumnock [1st]. The combined line continuing on towards Lugar immediately singled.
The signal box was on the south side of the junction. It opened in 1881.
The curve fell out of use in 1927 and the box formally closed in 1932.
The remaining line from Ayr carried passengers until 1951 and continued in use until 1964.
The site of the junction can be found in farmland.
