Despite the impact of Strom Arwen, Network Rail has successfully demolished and replaced the bridge over the railway at Lynebeg, south of Inverness on the Highland Mainline between Perth and Inverness. Its part of supporting work ahead of the dualling of the A9 between Tomatin and Moy.

A report on the derailment of a train travelling from Inverness to Edinburgh is critical of Network Rail.
Six passengers and two staff were slightly injured when the train ran into a landslip at a cutting in Moy, Inverness-shire, last November. The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) said the rail infrastructure company had not identified the drainage risks in the area.
