Liverpool and Manchester Railway

Introduction

This line is open. It was one of the pioneering routes (opened in 1830) during the early days of railways. It amalgamated with the Grand Junction Railway (opened 1837) in 1845 which itself was one of the major components of the London and North Western Railway which was formed in 1846.
