Not far east of Brechin station a double track line ran north to Brechin North Junction carrying the Forfar and Brechin Railway and the Brechin and Edzell District Railway.
After 1934 the curve ceased to be a double track line in the usual sense. The line to the west carried the route to Forfar [2nd] and the line to the east carried the route to Edzell.
The line to Forfar South Junction closed in 1958 and that to Edzell in 1964.
