The driver of a train on its way to Liverpool was injured after overhead power cables came down on the track near Runcorn. The incident happened at around 7.30pm and caused major disruptions on all lines and services between London Euston and Liverpool Lime Street. The ECHO understands that the driver managed to stop the train in time after spotting the power cables on the track. He got out of his cab to make the train safe and to check for a marker on the track so he could report his location to the control room. It was during this time that he received an electric shock and at 9.30pm, he was on the way to hospital.
