Train operator Virgin has recorded its best punctuality performance on the Cross Country Network just weeks before it hands over the railway franchise. The routes, which include a number of services to and from Edinburgh, were given over to Arriva in July, having been in Virgin's hands for the last decade. The handover takes place on November 11 and the new franchise deal runs until 2016. In the 4 weeks ending October 13, Virgin said 90.6 percent of trains arrived on time, beating the previous record of 90.5 percent set in April 2006. [Evening News].
