A new £3m Metro bridge has been successfully installed in North Tyneside. The bridge, which will carry Metro services over Tanners Bank in North Shields, was carefully lowered into place using a giant crane on Wednesday night, July 20.

People in Old Kilpatrick and Bowling are counting down the days until a key stretch of road between the two villages reopens.

Earlier this year the Post revealed Network Rails plans to close the stretch of the A814 over the railway line at the west end of Old Kilpatrick from August 2 until November 26 to install a new bridge over the railway linking Clydebank and Dumbarton.

The railway infrastructure company says the road will reopen on December 10 - two weeks later than planned.

The community in Old Kilpatrick is backing calls for increased public awareness on upcoming transport disruption in the village. Bus services will be stopped in the area next month while Network Rail conduct works on a rail bridge near Roman Crescent between February 2 and March 8.
