Support for disabled passengers at East Renfrewshires train stations has been slammed as woefully insufficient after it was revealed none of them has step-free access at all times across all platforms. New figures from ScotRail show stations such as Barrhead and Neilston do not offer full access, whilst Williamwood does not have step-free access to any platform.

Land for sale in the centre of an East Renfrewshire village has gone under offer after a successful bid by a community organisation.

After many years of trying Neilston Development Trust (NDT) have snapped up the 2.5-acre site, which lies southeast of Wellpark Lane and is adjacent to Double Hedges Road.

[This land was the route of the Lanarkshire and Ayrshire Railway beyond the buffer stop at Neilston on the route to Uplawmoor, Lugton and Ardrossan. -RS]

Neilston: With the buffer at Neilston at my back this is the view towards Uplawmoor showing the disused trackbed. This was still easily walkable for miles in the 1980s, looks trickier now.
