Train operators are set to make millions of pounds in compensation payments from Network Rail after cancelling hundreds of trains ahead of the storms. They faced accusations of cashing in on commuters’ misery after a day in which rail services ground to a halt on some lines for several hours and others ran with lengthy delays.
